Our History
Founded in 2020, the Assault Wrestling Alliance began its journey in Houston, Texas, on Friday the 13th, 2021. That night, several tournaments were held to crown the first-ever champions of the AWA World Heavyweight Title, AWA World Cruiserweight Title, and AWA Tag Team Titles. The next independent wrestling event took place that December 2021, featuring WWE Hall of Famer Mr. USA Tony Atlas. Since then, notable stars from WWE, AEW, TNT, and ECW have visited the home of the Assault Wrestling Alliance, affectionately known as the ASSAULT ASYLUM in Waldorf, Maryland. AWA continues to deliver thrilling Maryland wrestling events that energize the local wrestling community with live, action-packed shows throughout the year.
